7 Daily Habits That Make Life Easier
Updated: Jan 1, 2020

Life can get messy! Quick! And when my house is disorderly, my brain cannot function. So I came up with 7 daily tidy habits that helps my household and my brain function better. If you are interested in how I make my life more manageable...keep reading!
1. Make The Bed
As soon as I get home from dropping my Griffin off at school, the first thing I do is make the beds. Not only does this make the rooms look neater, it brings a sense of calm and serenity to our home. As a bonus, I light a candle or two to go a step further and find my zen. It literally only takes about 3 minutes(I timed it) and makes such a big difference in my day.

2. Do The Dishes
Another thing that makes me feel as though I have my Sh** together is having a straightened and tidy kitchen. A big part of this is the dishes. I cannot stand having dirty dishes on the counter or in the sink. I'm not saying I'm perfect but most nights I like to get the dirty dishes into the dishwasher or hand washed and wipe down the counters. That way, the next morning I come down to a nice and tidy kitchen. There is nothing better. In the morning, then, I put away the clean dishes and have an empty dishwasher for the days dishes to go into so that by the evening, I just run the dishwasher and close the kitchen for the night.
3. Go through the daily mail and email
This really helps decrease the clutter in our home. If I can go through our daily mail and discard junk mail and then put all the other mail in its proper place(file, to do pile, coupon bin, etc) then there isn't any clutter to deal with and I'm not getting anxious about what to do with all the paper laying in piles everywhere. Same goes with my email...It's not physical clutter but it still takes up a lot of space on my computer and if I don't go through it once a day then it begins to pile up and can get away from me. If I just take a few minutes each day to go through the days mail, I can stay up to date on important information and then my brain is clear to focus on other tasks.

4. Go through daily expenses
Keeping track of our daily expenses is important for us so that we can stay within a our monthly budget. I try to write down everything we spent the day before and then highlight it with corresponding colors to the categories of our living expenses to make sure we are within budget for each category. Then, at the end of the week this makes it a lot easier to do my budget tracking since I did most of the work each day.
5. Straighten up
Another thing I have gotten into the habit of is going around and picking up odds and ends around the house that aren't in there spots and putting them away before we go to bed at night. This only takes about 5-10 minutes, even less if I have help, and makes a huge difference. When we wake up and come downstairs in the morning it's just so nice to walk into a clean and tidy room. I'm a firm believer that if your surroundings are tidy you will be more calm and less anxious...and it's a great way to start the day.
6. Wipe down the counters and kitchen table
This is another big one for me. I feel like if my kitchen is tidy then the whole house feels more put together. So it's important for me to make sure that the counters and kitchen table are wiped down daily of crumbs and spills so I have that sense of calm. I use an aromatic natural cleaner like Method Daily Granite Cleaner in Tangerine Orange or Apple Orchard and Method Daily Wood Cleaner in Almond and it makes me feel happy knowing my space is clean and smells so good.

7. Sweep The Hardwoods
The last thing I do most days is sweep my hardwood floors. After I wipe my counters and table top I go through the kitchen and sweeps up all the days crumbs, pet fur, debris from shoes, etc. It only takes about 5 minutes and its worth the time. I recently got a Shark Cordless vacuum and it makes the job so much easier.

By doing these 7 things most days it actually can bring peace of mind and make your weekly cleaning a lot easier. It only takes about 30 minutes total to do and can change your whole perspective of the day. At least for me, if I get these 7 things done I feel more productive and able to get other tasks done throughout the day knowing I have a neat and tidy house. Give these tips a try and let me know if they make your day easier to get through.
In good Health,
